Your new place has an existing security system
Many times after you buy a home, you’ll find that the old owners didn’t take a home security system. All the devices function well, are installed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to make sure there are no integration problems, and they might offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The old homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the outgoing residents downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the Vivint service might be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring your existing smart devices with you to your new place when you move. It should be pretty easy to accomplish, as modern smart devices are portable. You can take down each device yourself or call a Vivint expert to dismantle everything. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any new devices you need -- in your new place. Your home security contract will stay the same.
